with the Preliminary Draw for FIFA World Cup 2002 and attended by
numerous Japan based people connected to FIFA and international press.
This preview was called the "No Excuses preview". |

A Technical Evaluation Committee
is established within the Japan Organising Committee for the 2002
FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan (JAWOC) and investigation of the use of
MEGA VISION at World Cup 2002 commences. |

MEGA VISION will be used for the Ministry of Public Management, Home
Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications' Japan-Korea High Data Rate
Satellite Communication Project. |

The first MEGA VISION real time
optical beam transmission experiment is completed between Japan's
National Stadium and Aoyama Tepia, for the match between Japan and
Korea. |

Satellite transmission is used
for the first time between Sapporo and Aoyama Tepia for a live broadcast
of the Kirin Cup match held between Japan and Paraguay at Sapporo
Dome. |

international live broadcasts at several locations in Japan and Korea
for 11 of the 64 matches held during the World Cup. |

The "Laser Dream Theater", which uses MEGA VISION to
display on a screen 50m tall x 10m wide, opens in the Global House
at the World Exposition 2005, Aichi, Japan (permanent installation
for the duration of the Exposition).

"Guinness World Record": The MEGA VISION image is displayed as full screen content for "New Turf Vision", a permanently installed all weather ultra-wide (W66.4m x H11.2m) outdoor display at the JRA's Tokyo Racecourse, which opened on October 7th (ongoing display).
